There are several
milestones in a toddler’s life that indicate it is time to transition from the
crib to a bid kid’s bed.  Sometimes the
toddler is more ready for this change than the parents are and other times the
parents are in need of this switch for their own reasons.  There are several indicators that can help
parents decide if it is the right time to transition their toddler into a big
kid’s bed
.

There is no
specific time that is set for when a child should move from the crib to a big
bed.  However, usually the transition
happens between the ages of 1 ½ and 3 ½.
If a toddler is climbing out of the crib, they may be ready for a big
bed.  If the climbing out of the crib is
happening regularly, then a big bed would be a good idea. On the other hand, if
the child is climbing out just from time to time, safety is a concern and the
child may not be ready for the freedom that a big bed will offer.

Another indicator
that a toddler is ready for a big bed is when they are potty training.  A toddler needs to be able to get out of bed
during the night to use the restroom otherwise diapers will have to be
introduced during the night which may be confusing to the potty training child.

Also, if the child has outgrown the small,
crib-sized mattress and they are sleeping fitfully or uncomfortably, a bigger
mattress may be necessary.  Sometimes the
crib mattress is needed for an upcoming member of the family and the parents
need to get their toddler into a big bed to free up the crib.  If this is the case, try to smoothly
transition the child from the crib to the big bed by involving the child in the
move.  Make sure that the child takes
part in the choosing of a big bed and mattress and be sure to add a bed railing
guard to the new big bed.  The railing on
a big bed will ensure that the child feels safe and the parents will not be so
worried about the toddler falling off of the mattress onto the floor.

In the event that
the toddler is nervous or clingy to their crib, slowly lower the crib bed
mattress
in increments until they are close to the ground and more prepared for
big bed sleeping.  Or, there is always
the option of buying a toddler bed that can use a crib mattress and is smaller
in size.

Make sure to not move a child into a big bed
without talking to them about it first.
Moving into a big mattress can be overwhelming to a toddler and care
should be taken to create a safe and relaxing atmosphere about the new big
kid’s bed.  Sleeping in a big bed adds
responsibility and freedom to a developing child’s nighttime habits.  Listen to the child and your instincts, and
the transition from crib sleeping to a big bed will go smoothly.

Everyone Wants a Comfortable Mattress

It is really that
simple.  Everyone wants a comfortable
mattress
.  Lindsay Lohan will want to
sleep on her regular mattress but won’t be able to do so for a few months.  If they thought it would do any good, the
Miami Heat and New York Knicks would offer Dwyane Wade and LeBron James their
choice of comfortable mattress if they would sign contracts.  Of course, King James would require a
comfortable king mattress.  Probably Wade
would want a comfortable king mattress as well.
As would Chris Bosh or Carlos Boozer.
Probably most every NBA player wants a comfortable king mattress.

They want a
comfortable king mattress as it would be almost large enough for them to sleep
comfortably.  They would not want a
comfortable twin mattress as the twin mattress would probably allow them to
place their feet flat on the floor and that would get quite cold, even in
Miami, FL to say nothing about trying to sleep on a twin mattress in New York
City or Cleveland, OH.

While a
comfortable queen mattress would most likely be large enough for Lindsay Lohan,
she probably will be sleeping on a twin mattress when she goes to jail.  Jails, colleges, and military organizations
are most likely the largest purchasers of the twin mattress.  Barracks and dormitories under whatever
guise, tend to have a lot of beds that take only a twin mattress.  The person who has achieved a level of power
or knows someone who knows someone may get to sleep on two twin mattresses
rather than the single twin mattress, in order to be comfortable.

College
basketball players at most non-basketball factory schools probably have to
sleep on a twin mattress.  It is unknown
if the twin mattress at those schools are comfortable or not.  The few colleges with money-making basketball
(and football) programs may provide their players with comfortable queen
mattresses or even the occasional king mattress while in school.  But when the player is good enough to turn
professional in their sport, they will find a comfortable queen mattress or
king mattress that allows them to get a good night’s sleep most nights in order
to play their sport and be at their best.

The comfortable
king mattress may not be the first purchase the new professional athlete
makes.  It may not even be the fifth or
even tenth purchase.  But it is a
purchase the newly professional athlete will make.  It’s worth a wager that LeBron James and
Dwyane Wade do each have a comfortable king mattress to sleep on each night.

Beat the Heat while enjoying a cozy mattress

Many folks start
thinking of buying a new mattress during the summer heat for the wrong reasons.
They find themselves tossing and turning and blame their mattresses when it is
more a matter of temperature. In the winter it is easy to throw another blanket
on a bed to keep comfortable. In the summer it is just as important to keep
cool to sleep. Good temperature control is key to a good nights rest. Washing
sheets regularly can be useful, and skip the fabric softener. Not only does it
disrupt the flame retardancy of fabrics, but it acts as a wax like coating on
the fibers making them less able to breathe.

A memory foam
mattress
is also known to hold heat more. Knowing this characteristic can help
you combat the problem directly. Changing to natural fiber sheets, especially
those, like Bamboo known for its moisture wicking qualities, can help regulate
the temperature inside the bed. A ceiling fan can help from an overhead
perspective. There is also a new invention called a bed fan that directs a
current of air between the sheets. Keeping this fan on will mean that less
energy has to go into cooling the whole house.

If heat is a
major problem, there are some other considerations. Heat rises. So if there is
a basement, setting up temporary sleeping quarters down there can help reduce
heat induced insomnia. This may be why the couch seems to induce sleep so much
more often that the bed. Air mattresses also act as giant heat sinks. In the
winter or an air conditioned room this can be a problem, but with good moisture
wicking sheet this can really help keep a person cool.

Taking a shower
right before going to bed can also work to lower the body's temperature. Don't
make it too cold or the body will fight back with an increased metabolism. Also
let the moisture evaporate as much as possible rather than wrapping up in a
towel. Evaporation is a great body cooling system. This reduced of evaporation
is actually the reason Tempurpedic foam mattresses don't feel as cool. When the
memory foam hugs and supports the body it reduces the tossing and turning that
allows the body to self regulate its temperature.

With the time of
heat waves and hot temps coming remember to stay cool as cool as possible. If
hot nights is the cause of insomnia, no mattress can solve that problem. Once
the temperature moderates, if the insomnia is still affecting a nights rest, a
new bed might be in order.

Dressing Up the Bed Mattress

Often, something
as simple as replacing mattress bedding can make the entire bedroom feel like a
completely refreshed and more interesting place.  Whether the bedding is old or just outdated,
investing in a new bed set may be just the thing to dress up the bed mattress.

There are
literally hundreds of companies that sell any kind of bed set your heart may
desire.  Whether there is an interest in
zodiac signs or western motifs, there is a company that provides it.  Any color, style or theme can be found either
online or at a local department store.
Also, purchasing a new bed set for the kids can add excitement to their
bedrooms as well, and the choices of kid’s bed sets range from Harry Potter to
any cartoon character out there.

For a wider variety
of choices, an online search may be the fastest and easiest way to narrow the
search.  One can find bed sets that vary
in price from $50 up to $400; it just depends on the budget that has been set.  There are many companies that offer close out
prices online that department stores may not offer.  Also, many times simply ordering from a store
online can cost less than going to the store itself.

Before setting
out to dress up the bed mattress, make sure to set a few guidelines.  Be sure to set a budget that fits.  Do not spend more money on dressing up the
mattress than is necessary or smart for the bank account.  Also, decide what kind of theme will fit the
best with the existing floor covering, wall colors and accessories that are
found in the bedroom.  Do not purchase a
new bed set only to find the need to redecorate the entire room
afterwards.  Fit the new bed set into the
existing theme in order to save time and money.
Lastly, pay attention to the quality and manufacturer of the bed
set.  Determine how long you would like
for the bed set to last and fit the quality of the bed set into that time
frame.  There are several bed sets that
will begin to unravel after a year or so of use whereas if a little extra is
spent in the beginning, the bed set may last for a much longer time.

No matter what
kind of dressing up will fit the bed mattress, be sure to consider adding a new
point of interest by way of a new bed set.
Bed sets save time, money and are a creative way to exhibit personality
and interest in the bedroom.

The Many Benefits of a Memory Foam Mattress

The seventh and
final Harry Potter movie, “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows”, will be selling
soon and before we know it, it will be time for a Harry Potter movie marathon
at home.  In order to be able to possibly
make it through seven intense movies such as these, a comfortable bed mattress
must be part of the party.  What if a
memory foam mattress replaced the old spring coil mattress before the twenty
hour movie marathon?  What would the
benefits of this switch be?

Instead of creaky
metal springs that wear out over time and use, memory foam offers a mattress
technology that is innovative and long-lasting.
Memory foam was developed by NASA many years ago and has progressively
become popular enough to also become much more affordable.  A memory foam mattress that is well made and
appropriately dense will last several years and provide several comfortable
side effects for the sleeper.

Memory foam
mattresses
offer a kind of support that is unsurpassed by the typical spring
coil mattress.  The foam can ease aches
and pains as well as temper the amount of movement other sleepers feel during
the night.  Memory foam that is of the
proper thickness for the needs of the sleeper will provide a kind of comfort
that will leave the sleeper feeling rested and rejuvenated.  Also, the act of rolling over will not
disturb the other person in the bed, leaving everyone feeling better and less
cranky in the morning.

A memory foam
mattress will not only relieve a tense body, but it will also aid in
maintaining the alignment of the spine itself.
Because the memory foam acts as a material that molds to the curves of
the body, instead of bending to it, it actually keeps the spine properly
aligned no matter what direction or position the sleeper ends up in.  A healthy spine is pertinent to a healthy
body, thus adding to the positive side effects of a memory foam mattress.

In addition, a
memory foam mattress can help those who suffer from diseases such as
fibromyalgia.  Sometimes pain is not just
tension based, and a durable yet flexible bed mattress becomes even more
important than ever.  Because the memory
foam holds the body, pain from these kinds of health issues can be tremendously
eased.

As exciting as
the premier of “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows” is, the thought of
watching the entire Harry Potter series while lying on a comfortable memory foam
mattress is even more appealing. Although there may be no health reasons that
make a memory foam mattress seem like a necessary buy, the obvious after
effects of sleeping on a memory foam mattress will be too great to deny.
